Catawba Valley Community College proudly announces that Tisha England has been promoted to Director of Athletic Operations and Intramurals for Red Hawk Athletics.
England will oversee all departmental operations and lead the development of a new intramural sports program designed to boost student engagement and expand recreational offerings across campus.
“All glory and honor is unto the Lord. I am grateful to be under a wonderful leadership that understands success is more than a sport,” England said. “It is about preparing young athletes for life, building teams with character, integrity, great work ethic, discipline, and positive long-lasting relationships. I look for to elevating CVCC to the highest competition and academic level. We are Red Hawk Strong.”
A cornerstone of Red Hawk Athletics since 2011, England began her career as an assistant women’s basketball coach under CVCC Hall of Famer Tommy Edwards before being named head women’s basketball coach at the start of the 2013-14 season.
During the next 12 years, she guided the program to a 210-115 record, earning two conference championships, finishing Region 10 Tournament runner-up twice and leading the Red Hawks to their first-ever national tournament appearance in 2023.
Her impact reached far beyond wins and titles. Under her leadership, more than 100 student-athletes graduated and continued their education at the next level. In the classroom, her teams consistently excelled — with 10 squads earning NJCAA Academic Team of Distinction honors, which is awarded to programs achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
England earned her Master of Science in Sports Management from Western Carolina University and will report to Executive Director of Student Life Nick Schroeder — the former CVCC Athletic Director.
Taking over for England as head women’s basketball coach is longtime assistant and CVCC alumni Nikkyana McCaskill, who brings continuity and passion to the position after years of dedicated service alongside England.
“Tisha has built a legacy defined by excellence, opportunity and student success,” Schroeder said. “Her leadership in this expanded role will benefit the entire college community, and with Nikkyana stepping in as head coach, Red Hawk Athletics is poised for continued growth.”
