Multi-agency task force arrests dozens in Houston-area jugging robberies

  • July 31, 2025

A regional task force has arrested multiple suspects in connection with a string of violent ‘jugging’ robberies, where victims were tailed from banks and attacked.

In a press conference Thursday morning in Conroe, Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle will join leaders from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Houston Police Department, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office to share details of the joint operation.

Authorities say dozens of suspects have been arrested following a coordinated investigation into “jugging,” a growing crime trend where suspects follow victims from banks and rob them at their next stop.

“Our message to criminals is clear: we will not tolerate this predatory crime in our communities,” Sheriff Doolittle said. “This task force is a testament to the power of collaboration.”

Officials also highlighted the upcoming rollout of House Bill 1902, which goes into effect soon and will make jugging a state jail felony in Texas.
