Ben Shelton’s season has been impressive so far, having reached a career-high ranking of seventh in the world following some big results on tour.
Shelton reached the semifinals of the Australian Open in January, matching his best finish at a Grand Slam event.
After appearing in his first final this year at the Munich Open, the American ended his grass swing by advancing to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon.
In the last eight at the All England Club, Shelton lost to first seed Jannik Sinner, who went on to secure a maiden championship in SW19.
The US star’s 2025 campaign is not over just yet, however, and with a busy hard-court season ahead, he has some big goals in mind.

Speaking with Tennis Channel after his second-round win in Toronto, Shelton said: “New York [The US Open] is the one that’s marked on my calendar every year, but especially this year in 2025.
“Turin is a big goal for me. I’ve never really, at this point of the year, been in a position where I’ve given myself a chance to make it there.
“But I think that’s kind of, you know, the next step for me, solidifying myself up here at the top, and that’s a big goal as I look towards the end of the year.
“I’d say those are two for me, but those are a little bit more in the back of my mind compared to the on-court everyday stuff that I’m trying to improve on.
“I’m trying to just, you know, become the best version of myself, shore up some of the holes that I have, make my weapons into bigger weapons. I think if I do those things, I’ll end up sooner or later getting the results I want to see.”

Shelton’s debut run at the US Open came in 2022, where he featured in the main draw of the tournament for the very first time.
In his opening matchup that year, he came up against Nuno Borges, whom he took to a fifth and final set, but was unable to emerge victorious.
