Happy Thursday,

Art is more than just a hobby, it has the power to bring people together to elevate their community.

Fort Worth residents are invited to join their neighbors to help create the “Echoes” mosaic mural for Ciquio Vasquez Park at Worth Heights Community Center this Friday and Saturday.

The public art installation, designed by artist J. Muzacz, weaves together elements from the Mexican serape and African kente cloth to reflect the Latino and Black communities that reside nearby.

Volunteers will place small tiles into simple grids to create larger ceramic tiles that will be integrated into the final mural planned for the park. No experience is needed and drop-ins are encouraged. Another opportunity to contribute will be held Aug. 8-9 at the same location.

Other public art installations in Fort Worth are underway across several neighborhoods. You can learn about the progress of those artworks here.

Lend a hand to public art installation coming soon to southside park

The public art work is made up of two sculptural mosaic mural walls and connecting mosaic floor insets. The installation pays homage to Ciquio Vasquez, a prominent figure in the city’s Latino history.
