This edition of dining news in Fort Worth includes openings, closures, media collaborations, and an exciting celebrity visit. There’s news of pizza, burgers, more pizza, cocktails, and a quirky Italian ice.
Here’s what’s happening in Fort Worth restaurant news right now:
Mr. Gatti’s, the pizza buffet chain, located at 2818 Horne St. #100, off Camp Bowie closed at the end of May. A representative said that most people were looking for dine in/buffet but the location did not have that option.
Chick Fil-A has temporarily closed its location at 6650 Westworth Blvd. in Westworth Village for renovations on July 31. They anticipate the renovation will take a couple of months.
The Rô on Oak, a bar in Roanoke at 320 S. Oak St., is launching a cocktail program from mixologist Chris Rountree featuring drinks such as the Satisfaction with tequila, cucumber juice, lime, and red pepper reduction; Rebel Rebel with Ketel One vodka, watermelon juice, lemon, and basil; and Start Me Up with vodka, espresso, and coffee liqueur. The launch represents a reboot for The Ro, which opened in 2023. Owners are Gabriel Miller and Jonathan Condos, plus Chris and Mark Beardon of Twinning Concepts (The Tipsy Alchemist, Akai, PM Lounge).
Robinson’s BBQ, the red chuck wagon restaurant on Berry Street known for its chopped beef and baked beans, shared the passing of their dad and founder, “known by many names such as Fort Worth BBQ Pitmaster, Doc, Pops, Brother or simply Mr. Robinson.”
Los Vaqueros, the Mexican restaurant in the Stockyards, had a special visit from country singer Blake Shelton and pop singer Gwen Stefani on July 15. “They had a great time & we are SOOO grateful for all their support & generosity of spirit in supporting all of our fellow Texans & the relief efforts in Central Texas right now,” the restaurant shared in a post.
Chicken Salad Chick is now open in Granbury at 1440 E. Highway 377. The fast-casual chain founded in Auburn, Alabama in 2008, is known for its dozen-plus chicken salad flavors, side salads, soups, sandwiches, and desserts.
Rodeo Goat has opened in Arlington, in the Urban Union District at 333 E. Division St. This is the 11th location for the burger chain.
Hideaway Pizza, the pizza chain from Stillwater, Oklahoma, is opening a location at Alliance Town Center, at 9800 North Fwy. In anticipation, they are hosting a pre-opening “pizza party” with free food, as part of the training process for their staff. From August 6-8, you can pre-order food and they will bring it to your car at the pickup point at 9800 North Fwy. On August 6, they’ll be doing pizza & salads; August 7, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, & starters; August 8, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, salads, & desserts.
James Provisions in Hurst was named 2025 Rising Star at the Texas Restaurant Association’s Texas Restaurant Awards on July 20. According to a release, the annual event is the second-largest restaurant show in the country with over 6,400 attendees and 450 exhibitor booths.
Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse has a limited-time two-course dining experience called The Vaulted Table priced at $79 with watermelon & Heirloom tomato salad with grilled halloumi cheese; and Surf & Turf with a 10-oz Wagyu skirt steak, lobster tail, and French fries. Available through August 29. They say you must specifically request “The Vaulted Table” when making reservations.
Thirsty Lion Gastropub has new limited time items including spicy shrimp ceviche stack, Heirloom tomato Caprese salad, Wagyu beef & bacon jam burger, and miso & orange lazed salmon. Prices start at $14 for the heirloom tomato salad.
Snooze A.M. Eatery, the buzzy brunch chain, has a new summer menu featuring almond butter coconut porridge, whipped cottage cheese bowl, greens & grains bowl, burrata toast, and biscuits & gravy. A porridge is $13.
Cheba Hut has a returning sandwich: the Orange Widow toasted sub with chicken, bacon, chipotle mayo, ranch, and mushrooms. A new lemon blueberry cookie made with real lemon zest and blueberries is $4.
The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill has two new items, available through August 31. The watermelon salad features watermelon, cucumber, fresh mint, feta, and balsamic vinaigrette for $7. The Saganaki burger is Greek-inspired with a charbroiled beef & lamb patty with Kasseri cheese, arugula, red onion, and tzatziki, on a brioche bun for $16.
Black Tap is collaborating with the FX series Alien: Earth for a limited-time burger and shake. The Alien Earth burger features prime beef, onion petals, pepper jack cheese, cilantro, and fries for $23; and Cryo Crazyshake features Mountain Dew topped with a chocolate cake slice, drizzle for $22. Is there no ice cream in that shake? Available through August 10.
Andy’s Frozen Custard is expanding into beverages with a new Cherry Limeade with Sprite, cherries, key lime syrup, and vanilla frozen custard. Yummy Latte features vanilla or chocolate frozen custard with espresso and choice of caramel or fudge. Brewed iced tea is available in sweet, unsweet, raspberry, cherry, or strawberry flavors. Tea starts at $2, cherry limeade starts at $6.
Rita’s Italian Ice has a gummy bear Italian ice featuring white Italian Ice mixed with real gummy bears; and a new glittery gummy bear gelati layered with gummy bear Italian ice, vanilla frozen custard, and a shimmering unicorn glitter topping. Both items available through August 24.
Dog Haus has a “betr” burger, a collaboration with food artist Josh Elkin and content creator-boxer Jake Paul. The burger features a Nashville hot-rubbed Angus beef smash patty, bacon onion jam, and miso ranch on King’s Hawaiian rolls. Available for $14 through September 8.
Whataburger has a new Dr Pepper Blackberry Shake, available starting August 5. It features Whataburger’s Vanilla Shake base swirled with Dr Pepper and a touch of blackberry flavor — capitalizing on a Dr Pepper Blackberry flavored soda which was released in February 2025 and turned out to be a big hit.
