Rochester, N.Y. – Local stargazers are stopping at the Rochester Museum & Science Center for the first day of the Perseid Fest on Friday.
The museum allowed people to watch the Perseid meteor shower from the planetarium telescopes, watch free shows, and meet more than 20 local exhibitors.
The Perseid meteor shower is generally considered the most popular annual shower, likely because of the favorable weather for viewing and the number of visible meteors it produces.
The festival will also go on Saturday from 5:00 pm through 10:00 pm.
