Houston weather: August 2 morning forecast

HOUSTON – Scattered afternoon and evening storms are likely Saturday as a stalled front lingers to our north.

You can count on muggy air and a good chance for showers and a few storms this weekend. Timing looks to begin later this afternoon and continue into the late evening hours.

Heavy rain possible

Within any storm that we see this weekend, it could drop a lot of rain in a short amount of time. There is a 1 out of 4 risk for isolated street flooding across most of Southeast Texas.

Stay weather-aware and remember to turn around, don’t drown.

Summer heat and humidity

Hot and humid weather with the chance of isolated storms possible for the entirety of next week.

Stay hydrated and remember to take breaks inside the a/c.

No tropical systems with plenty of dust

So far this hurricane season, Saharan dust has dominated across the central Atlantic, resulting in a lack of many strong tropical waves and a quiet pattern.

An area of low pressure is expected to form off the SE coast of the U.S. today.

Slow development will be possible early next week as it moves into the Atlantic. Other than this area, the tropics are quiet across the central Atlantic due to Saharan Dust.

In the short-term, no storms are expected, but as we head into August and September, expect a more active tropical pattern to persist.
