The Dallas Express CEO Chris Putnam expects historic voter turnout across Texas as Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) and state Rep. James Talarico (D-District 50) enter the final stretch of their U.S. Senate contest.

Putnam joined Fox News’ The Will Cain Show to discuss the race. The program shared a clip October 22, highlighting long lines at polling places and energized voters in its description of Putnam’s turnout forecast.

A Fox News poll released October 21 placed Paxton and Talarico at 49% each among likely Texas voters. Its likely-voter sample included 1,398 respondents, with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.

Researchers conducted the survey October 15-19. Talarico held a two-point edge in the September survey, 51% to Paxton’s 49%.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported 76,079 first-day early voters on October 19. He also said the county had already surpassed its opening-day turnout in the 2024 presidential election that afternoon.

The Dallas Express previously covered Dallas County’s early-voting surge, including the comparison with recent presidential elections.

Early voting in Texas runs through October 30, and Election Day falls November 3, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s election calendar.

Registered voters may cast early ballots at any early voting location in their county of registration. Polling hours vary by location, and voters can check their county elections office for details.
