Several more vehicles were damaged, including a car that flipped upside down. DPS says injuries were reported, but it’s unknown how many people were hurt.
Troopers placed dozens of evidence markers on the freeway and around a blue pickup truck.
The freeway was shut down for over five hours as crews cleaned up the extensive wreckage, but reopened around 10:30 a.m. ADOT is advising drivers to be patient as the backup clears.
UPDATE: The freeway is open. Please allow a bit of extra time for the queue to clear.
