Historian Keith Lockhart has a pile of stuff on his desk.

They are photos, postcards and photo-based illustrations from at least a century ago in Delaware County that he is attempting to catalog.

He would appreciate your expertise and memory as he continues this work. The Daily Times backs the work and provides a weekly forum for it.

Keith reached into the pile and pulled out a postcard of Millbourne that simply says “Milbourne, Delaware County.” The card shows a street but there is no name for it, just a group of houses.

Keith is looking for a street, specific location, house numbers and direction of view.

Now, for last week’s mystery regarding West Eighth Street in Chester:

• “The view is looking east at the unit block of W. 8th St. from the Chester Creek towards Sproul St. The homesare located on the north side of 8th St. and the address of the home where the girl is in front of is likely 54 W. 8th St.” — Dennis & Jack McKnight

• “The photograph is on West 8th Street looking toward Sproul Street, so generally looking to the NE.  Chester Creek would be way behind the photographer’s location. The photograph has an X above 42 West 8th Street where the roof line heights get lower and the fronts lack the terraces and pairs of steps. Utility right of way is on the same side. The little girl is crossing in front of 54 West 8th Street. As for the mention of ‘West Side Street,’ I think it may be shortened version of the phrase ‘West Side of Street.’ ” — David Burns

• “So I am going to take a guess. I am thinking West Side Street is Sproul Street as it separates the West 8th and East 8th Streets. The little girl is facing the odd number addresses. Farther down the street on the on the same side of the street, the elevation rises and the homes have steps.” — Tina Marie Little

• “I saw the photo in today’s Daily Times. I grew up on West 8th, and the homes do not at all look familiar. Of course, I left west 8th in the mid-fifties, and you note that the photo may be from the twenties. Nonetheless, I would be very surprised if the photo is West 8th. Look forward to seeing any information that may be submitted.” — Bill DelVescovo

• “I use to live at 25 West 8th St. around 1956-1960 in Chester down the street from the Daily Times and the Boyd Theatre. There was an armory on the corner. If this is the same Eighth Street it was a dead end street.” — Janet Chism
