NY Mets: Breaking down Mets’ additions of Tyler Rogers, Ryan Helsley

The Mets bolstered their bullpen by adding Tyler Rogers and Ryan Helsley one night before the trade deadline on Wednesday night in San Diego.

NEW YORK — The Mets offense found its legs on Saturday afternoon to snap out of their four-game losing streak.

The Mets’ 12 runs in their six-run victory were their most in nearly a month, dating back to July 5 against the Yankees. Pete Alonso delivered his 250th home run, Francisco Lindor tagged a two-run double and finished with four RBI, and Brandon Nimmo added three hits and four RBI in the win.

Now, the Mets will look to carry that momentum into their series finale with the Giants at 1:40 p.m. on Sunday at Citi Field.

Frankie Montas is on the mound for the Mets, coming off a no-decision last time out against the Padres, despite allowing five earned runs on eight hits and two walks. His ERA ballooned to 5.46 while his record remained at 3-1.

For the Giants, Carson Whisenhunt, the club’s No. 1 prospect, will be making his second career start. In his first, he was knocked for four earned runs on five hits and two walks in five innings against the Pirates.
