A man who had just returned home from buying groceries died after being shot early Sunday in Fort Worth, police said.

Officers responded to the reported shooting at an apartment in the 2900 block of North Main Street at about 5:59 a.m., Fort Worth police said in a news release.

Officers learned that the man had just returned home from buying groceries for his girlfriend, police said.

The man was then shot through the door of his apartment. He died from gunshot wounds to his upper torso, police said.

The man’s identity has yet to be released by officials at this time.

Police did not immediately say if the man was targeted or if it was a random killing. It was also not immediately clear if police have identified a suspect in the killing.
