SAN ANTONIO – Police have arrested a man who allegedly made a threat against a local business.
On July 28, 2025, a business employee discovered a disturbing voicemail threatening to “shoot the place up.”
The business, which employs previously convicted individuals to assist them with employment, immediately contacted police upon hearing the threat. SAPD detectives conducted an investigation into the phone number used to leave the voicemail, which was traced back to a company providing unregistered phone numbers.
An emergency disclosure submission revealed the user’s information, including their name, IP address, and email.
Employees initially suspected a recently terminated employee might be involved. Police confirmed that the suspect, Julio Villasana Banda, had worked for the company from February 2022 until his termination in March 2025. Employees found another voicemail from Banda using profane language, similar to the threatening message.
The threatening voicemail instilled fear among employees, with one even bringing a firearm to work for protection. The email address on file for Banda matched the one provided by the phone number company, further linking him to the threat.
Authorities arrested Julio Villasana Banda for threatening to commit an offense involving violence and placing a substantial group of the public in fear of serious bodily injury.
The suspect’s bond is set at $25,000.
