A serious collision has shut down a 1.65-kilometre stretch of Sooke Road in Langford, with authorities warning the route will likely be closed for hours.

West Shore RCMP says officers were called to a crash near the 2900-block of Sooke Road at around 4:10 p.m. Sunday.

“The collision involved two vehicles and emergency personnel are currently at the scene,” reads an RCMP update.

The incident has closed Sooke Road in both directions from Humpback Road to West Shore Parkway, and it will likely stay shut down “for several hours,” RCMP said just before 5 p.m.

Detours to and from Sooke are available via Kangaroo Road and Gillespie Road, according to RCMP.

“We thank you for your patience as emergency crews work the scene,” RCMP said, adding they would update the public when Sooke Road reopens.

There was no immediate update on the conditions of those involved in the crash.
