Officers responded to a shooting call around 6 a.m. at an apartment complex on North Main Street.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim inside his room with at least one apparent gunshot wound to his torso.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, sustained a fatal injury to his upper torso.
They learned the victim had just returned to his apartment after buying food for his girlfriend when he was shot through his apartment door.

Detectives found that the suspect had arrived at the location with several other people. The suspect knocked on the victim’s door and the door was answered by a witness followed shortly by the victim.
The victim and suspect exchanged words for a brief moment and the victim shut the door. The suspect returned to the vehicle he arrived in and retrieved a handgun from the vehicle or its occupants.
The suspect then returned to the door and fired multiple shots through the door, striking the victim. The suspect and others fled the scene in the vehicle.
A short while later the suspect and other occupants were observed at a nearby business. Officers responded to the location and were able to detain the other occupants and arrest the suspect.
The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Ariel Herrara, who is to be booked into jail on a murder charge.
