Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White gave an update on Caitlin Clark’s status as the star point guard continues to deal with a groin injury.
“It’s day-to-day right now,” White said during a Monday appearance on NBA Today (1:10 mark). “We’re really just putting no timetable on it. Going through the rehab process, and then we want to reintegrate her from a strength and conditioning standpoint and then get her back to basketball activities.”
Clark hasn’t suited up for the Fever since July 15 after aggravating her groin injury near the end of their 85-77 win over the Connecticut Sun.
Expectations were high for the 23-year-old following a 2024 season in which she won Rookie of the Year, earned an All-Star nod and helped Indiana make a playoff appearance.
Clark has ultimately been limited throughout her second year with the Fever, appearing in just 13 of the team’s 29 regular-season games. She’s missed time due to groin and quad issues, struggling to stay efficient while moving in and out of Indiana’s lineup.
Clark is still averaging 16.5 points per game and ranking No. 2 in the WNBA by recording 8.8 assists per game, but she hasn’t displayed her three-point accuracy on a consistent basis.
She’s shooting just 27.9 percent from behind the arc this season.
Still, Clark’s presence would undoubtedly benefit a Fever squad looking to return to the postseason. Indiana failed to excel without her earlier in the year but that hasn’t been the case recently, as the team currently owns a 17-12 overall record while riding a five-game win streak.
While Clark doesn’t seem to be on the verge of returning while she continues the rehab process, her next opportunity to come back will be against the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET.
