SAN ANTONIO — Three San Antonio hospitals were named among the best hospitals across the state by U.S. News.

U.S. News released its 36th annual Best Hospitals study. To determine the best of the best, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,400 hospitals and health care facilities on a variety of factors including risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care.

Houston Methodist Hospital reigns supreme as it stayed at the No.1 spot for the best hospital in the state, followed by two Dallas-Fort Worth area facilities, UT Southwestern Medical Center and Baylor University Medical Center.

But in San Antonio, health facilities have climbed the charts. Methodist Hospital took the cake for the best hospital in San Antonio for a second year in a row, while simultaneously in a three-way tie for the statewide No. 9 spot with Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and St. David’s Medical Center in Austin.

Coming in at as the second best hospital in San Antonio, Baptist Medical Center jumped from the No. 29 spot in the statewide list to No. 15.

Lastly, Methodist Hospital Stone Oak ranked No.3 in the best hospitals in San Antonio, while ranking No. 21 statewide.
