East Freeway reopens after person killed trying to cross highway

Pedestrian killed (Houston Transtar)

HOUSTON – The westbound lanes of I-10 E. were closed at Normandy Street for several hours Monday evening after a person was fatally struck while trying to cross the highway.

Houston Police say they were called to the scene just after 7 p.m.

According to Lt. Larry Crowson, a person tried to run across the highway when they were hit and killed by a pickup truck.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The lanes opened back up shortly before 10 p.m.
