SAN ANTONIO — Two dogs perished in a house fire on the city’s West Side on Monday that also caused significant interior damage to the home, officials said.
The fire broke out around 4:35 p.m. in the 6200 block of Viva Max Drive. The blaze was contained within the house, preventing it from spreading to neighboring properties.
No occupants were inside the home at the time of the fire, except for three dogs. Two of the dogs perished, while one managed to escape, authorities confirmed. The surviving dog was treated on scene by firefighters, who were seen giving the animal water.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
