David Ornstein reported for The Athletic on Monday evening that VfB Stuttgart are pursuing a deal to sign Fabio Vieira from Arsenal. Though Vieira spent last season out on loan, Stuttgart are looking to bring the midfielder in on a permanent basis.
Ornstein adds that there’s no agreement at this stage, but talks with Arsenal are continuing over the transfer.
The report also suggests Arsenal will seek a respectable price for Vieira, given they signed him for up to €40m in 2022. The player has two years left on his contract with the Gunners.

Simon Collings confirms for Standard Sport on Tuesday morning that Arsenal and Stuttgart have held talks over a permanent transfer, but again there’s no suggestion of an agreement or anything close just yet.
There had been talk of West Ham United interest in Vieira last month, with the club reportedly adding the midfielder to their summer shortlist as they plan multiple signings in the centre of the park.
If that interest is genuine, the Hammers may need to move quickly to avoid missing out on the signing to Stuttgart.

Vieira is yet to link up with Arsenal for pre-season, missing out on the trips to Spain, Singapore, and Hong Kong. The 25-year-old was given an extended holiday following his participation at the Club World Cup with Porto on loan.
The expectation was that he’d rejoin training this week, which could still happen. But the transfer speculation is likely to affect Vieira’s involvement in the remainder of the pre-season preparations.
