1. 5 North Texas women killed in Austin-area collision

Five women from North Texas were killed in a crash in Burnet County last week while on the way to celebrate a birthday. The longtime friends were reportedly on a weekend trip to Kingsland, 64 miles west of Austin.

2. Redistricting clash continues, leaving special session on hold

Texas House lawmakers have another chance on Tuesday to return to business. A Monday afternoon deadline for a vote on the proposed congressional maps came and went with a majority of Democrats still absent, and it’s likely the quorum break will continue into Tuesday.

3. Texas lawmakers consider legalizing psychedelics for veterans

Texas lawmakers are continuing to discuss the future of THC during this month’s special session, but there is another substance, a psychedelic, that is inching its way toward becoming an approved drug for veterans in the state.
