A Silver Alert was activated Tuesday on behalf of an at-risk 77-year-old woman last seen in South Los Angeles, east of the Harbor (110) Freeway.

Josephine Gamboa was last seen on Saturday near East 42nd Street and Wadsworth Avenue at approximately 8 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol, which activated the alert on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Gamboa was described as a 5-foot-3-inch-tall woman weighing 140 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes.

It remains unclear what she was wearing when she was reported missing.

The Silver Alert is in effect in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo and Kern counties.

Anyone with information regarding Hamid’s whereabouts was urged to call 911.

The CHP established the Silver Alert program to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
