Bild journalist Felix Arnold confirms reports in recent days that VfB Stuttgart are interested in signing Fabio Vieira this summer. The key issue is reportedly the transfer fee, with Arsenal demanding up to €30m (£26.1m) while Stuttgart don’t want to go above €20m (£17.4m).
That’s a fairly sizeable valuation gap, so it remains to be seen whether it’s one the two clubs can bridge in further talks.
In the meantime, Vieira has returned to training with Arsenal. The midfielder had missed the pre-season tour of Spain, Singapore, and Hong Kong after being handed an extended break following his participation in the Club World Cup with loan club FC Porto.

David Ornstein originally reported for The Athletic on Monday evening that Stuttgart were pursuing a deal to sign Vieira from Arsenal. Though Vieira spent last season out on loan, Stuttgart are looking to bring the midfielder in on a permanent basis.
Ornstein added that there’s no agreement at this stage, but talks with Arsenal are continuing over the transfer.
The report also suggests Arsenal will seek a respectable price for Vieira, given they signed him for up to €40m in 2022. The player has two years left on his contract with the Gunners.

Simon Collings then confirmed for Standard Sport on Tuesday that Arsenal and Stuttgart had held talks over a permanent transfer, but again there was no suggestion of an agreement or anything close just yet.
There had also been talk of West Ham United interest in Vieira last month, with the club reportedly adding the midfielder to their summer shortlist as they plan multiple signings in the centre of the park.
As it stands, no club are on the verge of finalising the signing, so Vieira will join Arsenal’s pre-season preparations.
