A Silver Alert is in effect Wednesday in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo and Kern counties on behalf of an at-risk 77-year-old woman last seen in South Los Angeles, east of the Harbor (110) Freeway.

Josephine Gamboa was last seen on Saturday near East 42nd Street and Wadsworth Avenue at approximately 8 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol, which activated the alert Tuesday on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Gamboa was described as a 5-foot-3-inch-tall woman weighing 140 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes.

It remains unclear what she was wearing when she was reported missing.

Anyone with information regarding Gamboa’s whereabouts was urged to call 911.

The CHP established the Silver Alert program to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
