A 30-year-old has been identified as the man who died Sunday after he was shot through the door of his Fort Worth apartment.

Joey Salinas died Sunday after he was shot at about 6 a.m. at an apartment in the 2900 block of North Main Street, according to Fort Worth police and the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Ariel Herrera, 18, and three other men where later found and detained in connection with Salinas’ death, according to police.

It was determined that before the shooting, Salinas had returned home from buying groceries for his girlfriend, police said.

The suspect then arrived at the apartment with several other people, police said.

When the suspect knocked on the door of the apartment, it was answered by a witness. Salinas came to the door and spoke with the suspect briefly before he shut the door, police said.

The suspect went to the vehicle he arrived in, grabbed a handgun, returned to the door and fired several shots through it, police said.

Salinas died from a gunshot wound to the back, according to the medical examiners office.

The suspect fled, police said. Herrera and three others were later found at a nearby business and detained, police said.

Herrera faces a murder charge. The three men with Herrera were detained on warrants, according to Fort Worth jail records.
