Two 14-year-olds were injured, one seriously, when their electric scooter struck a pickup truck Tuesday night on Bishop Avenue in Springfield.

The accident happened about 8:45 in the area of North Sycamore Avenue.

According to a news release from Springfield police:

Officers responded at 8:51 p.m. for the report of a crash in the 400 block of North Bishop.

Officers arrived, along with Upper Darby police, and medics from Clifton Heights and Stat ambulance to find the two 14-year-olds being treated for injuries they suffered after the scooter collided with the pickup.

The pickup truck had been traveling south coming from Garrett Road in Upper Darby.

The boys were riding together on the scooter in the same direction and to the left of the pickup. They collided with the truck as they passed Sycamore Avenue and the boys were knocked off the scooter.

The driver of the pickup called 911 and remained on location and was cooperative with the investigation.

Police said both boys were treated on scene and transported to hospitals. One boy suffered injuries that included a broken arm, and the other boy suffered serious injuries and remains in critical condition.

The crash is being investigated by the Delaware County Crash Response Team and the Springfield Detectives Division.
