Clubhouse315 in Plains Twp. to feature live performances
PLAINS TWP. — When you walk up to Clubhouse315 at the site of the former Sunshine Market and see a sign that says “Not Just Golf!,” you better believe it’s true.
In and outside that space, you can play the flagship golf simulator or a game of soft bocce, have a drink at the Halfway — a new bar set to open on Thursday — or chill out and smoke a cigar.
And the options continue from there. New to the Clubhouse315 experience will be the opportunity to catch a stand-up comedy show or live music performance.
“We have a lot going on here. It’s not just music. It’s not just a bar. It’s not just golf. But it can be all of those things,” said Lorenzo Medico, owner of Clubhouse315.
Medico himself has a background in music and theater, but is now ready to give others a chance at being on stage.
“I’m too old for [performing] now,” Medico said with a laugh. “So now I’m on the other side. I want to support artists. That’s my main thing, especially up-and-coming, local artists.”
First up on the live performance agenda will be rising national comedian Cristina Mariani, whose stand-up appearance will coincide with the opening of the Halfway on Thursday night. Comedy shows at Clubhouse315 are and will be ticketed events, according to Medico, and the plan is to hold them either monthly or biweekly.
At other times, the stage at Clubhouse315 will host established solo musicians, as well as duos and trios. The golf machines will be turned off during the comedians’ sets, but not for music. Medico calls this blend of sounds and entertainment options a “good mix of engagement.”
Properly staging these shows is a high priority for Medico and his team, but a plan is in place.
“We call this a convertible space,” Medico said, before describing the ways in which Clubhouse315’s seating can be rearranged to comfortably suit the event that is happening on a given night.
In the future, younger artists will likely have an opportunity to try out their new, original material on the Clubhouse315 stage, and Medico said that a karaoke night might not be far behind.
“We want to try all these different things, but we have to have a starting point,” Medico said of the stage’s beginnings. “I feel comfortable with these artists who have played around the area for so long.”
Outdoor country show
The biggest production for Clubhouse315 is undoubtedly the Boots & Brews Music Fest set to be held on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 3 to 10 p.m. The event will be under the front, outside deck of the building and will feature country music artists from the local and national scenes.
On the bill are local artists Lost at the Rodeo, Gracie Jane Sinclair & The Band, and Marcus Welliver, as well as charting national artist Kylie Morgan and American Idol winner Noah Thompson. General admission and VIP arrangements are available for the show.
“We’re going to try to make this a yearly event and grow every year, and bring in bigger and bigger artists every single year, so we’re really excited about that,” Medico said of the event.
Tickets for the first Boots & Brews Music Fest can be purchased from Universe, and can be accessed by following the ticketing details on the event page on Facebook.
