The 2025 FedEx Cup Playoffs are officially underway with the first of the three tournaments that comprise the PGA Tour’s postseason kicking off at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. The 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship features 69 of the league’s top 70 golfers with only world No. 2 Rory McIlroy taking a planned absence from the first playoff leg. While McIlroy’s decision not to play in Memphis was the talk of the week, that subsides Thursday as Scottie Scheffler leads a loaded field seeking personal glory and significant paydays.

The top 50 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings at the conclusion of play at TPC Southwind will advance to next week’s BMW Championship. Beyond everyone in the field seeking a win come Sunday, the likes of Xander Schauffele, Si Woo Kim, Jordan Spieth, Wyndham Clark and Tony Finau will be jockeying for position trying to ensure they qualify to play at Caves Valley Golf Club just outside Baltimore in seven days. The first 18 holes will be of paramount importance as these golfers and a bevy of others seek to kick off the postseason with some momentum.
