A24 released the first trailer for “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” on Wednesday.
Written and directed by Mary Bronstein, the psychological drama stars Rose Byrne, A$AP Rocky, as well as Brookline native Conan O’Brien. The film follows Linda (Byrne), a mother under pressure as she deals with her kid’s unknown illness, an absentee husband (Christian Slater), a house flood, and a declining relationship with her therapist (O’Brien).

“If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” had its global premiere at Sundance in January, followed by its international premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival in February, where Byrne won the Silver Bear award for best leading performance. It is set to release theatrically Oct. 10, according to Variety.
Earlier this year, O’Brien said in an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” that he was told to consider the role by Adam Sandler, a New Hampshire native, who previously worked with A24 on “Uncut Gems.”
O’Brien, known for his former late night show and his podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend‚” told Kimmel that he hesitated to take a role in a dramatic film, but the script “riveted” him.
“It’s not something that I would have sought. I am not looking to be an actor, I don’t want to do that to America,” O’Brien told Kimmel. “Trust me, this is not on my bucket list, but I met with Mary and I think I tried to talk her out of it. She said ‘No,’ she was very persuasive, so I said ‘I’ll give it a shot.’”
