You never know what’s swimming in the waters around North Texas. At Eagle Mountain Lake in Tarrant County, it was an alligator!

A 10-foot-one-inch alligator was safely removed from the lake Thursday morning.

“We were trying to get it into the cage last night,” said Mike Mancy, who saw the alligator near his dock on Thursday. “He got in it (the cage) this morning on his own.”

It probably helped that breakfast was waiting for the reptile in the cage.

In a social media post, Mancy wrote, “Hard to say how much he weighed because five of us lifted him into the truck. But I do know that in our tug-of-war contest, he almost beat four of us. “

Commissioner Manny Ramirez posted a video of the gator on his own social media page, expressing gratitude to Texas Parks and Wildlife and Fort Worth Nature Center personnel who helped capture the alligator and will relocate it to the nature preserve
