The Alabama Department of Corrections is awarding a new contract to one of the lawyers reprimanded by a federal judge for the use of artificial intelligence to produce a document in a federal court case.

The Legislature’s contract review committee on Thursday put a hold on the ADOC’s latest contract with lawyer William Lunsford, who has defended the prison system in court for years and has been paid millions by the state.
