Three Northeast Florida communities have landed top spots on a new list of Florida’s wealthiest suburbs, shining a spotlight on Jacksonville’s growing economic clout.

The rankings still are dominated by South Florida suburbs, as expected for an area that has long been considered the state’s epicenter of wealth, but the presence of three Jacksonville-area communities in the top 25 is catching attention.

Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach and Fleming Island all rank among the top 25 wealthiest suburbs in the state, according to a recent GOBankingRates study. Each boasts an average household income above $150,000, putting them ahead of many communities in other major metro areas, including Miami, Tampa and Orlando.

The study analyzed U.S. Census Bureau income data and Zillow housing statistics.

Jacksonville Beach ranked near the top of the list at No. 14, while Atlantic Beach was No. 17 on the list and Fleming Island ranked at No. 21.

These findings suggest a more geographically diverse spread of wealth in Florida than many might assume, with Jacksonville’s suburbs standing out for having higher incomes paired with varying housing costs.

Clay County’s Fleming Island especially stood out for its overall affordability. Despite the high income levels, it also offered one of the most affordable median home prices on the list, making it an attractive option for families seeking suburban living with strong earning potential.

The area’s coastal suburbs of Jacksonville Beach and Atlantic Beach featured some of the highest home prices on the list at approximately $665,000 and $751,000, respectively, reflecting strong property values.

While luxury enclaves in Palm Beach County and the Miami metro area continue to dominate the top ranks, Jacksonville’s representation on the GOBankingRates list signals a shifting landscape around wealth distribution, real estate trends and economic development across Florida.

The Northeast Florida presence on this list could point to growing professional sectors in the area and increases in remote work flexibility.

As Jacksonville continues to expand its influence in Florida’s economy, its suburbs are no longer just affordable alternatives — they’re economic powerhouses in their own right.
