Three of Oregon’s seven self-reported NCAA secondary violations in 2024-25 came from the track and field program.

It was the most secondary violations reported by UO since 2018-19, though football was involved in just one, according to records released to The Oregonian/OregonLive in response to a public records request.

The nature of the violation committed by the football program is redacted and not attributed to any individual of the staff, but notes the player involved was reinstated.

An ineligible track athlete was allowed to compete before they were certified and a recruit on an official visit was allowed to contract professional athletes, which were attributed to assistant director for track operations Josh Seitz and assistant coach Brian Blutreich, respectively. A second violation was also attributed to Seitz, though it was redacted, and the athlete was reinstated in both cases.

A baseball recruit was contacted early due to a data entry, which was attributed to director of player development Brett Thomas. Head coach Mark Wasikowski is listed with a redacted violation in which the player involved was reinstated.

Volleyball assistant coach Giovana Melo inadvertently responded to a recruit’s social media post.
