It’s been getting hotter and hotter all week in North Texas, but it looks like Friday will be our peak.
The end of the workweek is forecasted to hit 101 degrees at DFW International Airport, the official climate location for the region. The temperature there has been slowly climbing all week, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office, after rain at the start of the week dropped the high down to the low 90s.
A similarly gradual decline looks to start over the weekend, dropping to a high of 96 by Monday. There’s no rain in the immediate forecast, though, making it unlikely the temperature will fall much further.
Along with the rising air temperature, high humidity is expected to push the “feels like” temperature up to 108 in D-FW on Friday. That high heat index is the cause of the heat advisory over much of North Texas, which is set to expire at 7 p.m. Friday.
D-FW Weather Wise
It’s possible the advisory may be extended, with similarly high heat indices forecasted for Saturday.
