A 33-year-old man was fatally shot in the head on a Bronx commercial strip, police said Friday.

The victim was passing a row of stores on Westchester Ave. near Morrison Ave. in the Soundview section of the Bronx, underneath the MTA’s elevated No. 6 line, at about 10:30 p.m. on Thursday when a gunman opened fire.

A bullet struck the victim in the head, police said.

EMS rushed him to Jacobi Hospital, where he died. His name has not been released as cops track down relatives.

The gunman fled the scene. No arrests have been made.

A motive for the shooting was not immediately disclosed.

Detectives were scouring the area for surveillance footage to help them identify the shooter and track his movements after the killing.

The fatal shooting comes as police celebrate a 25% drop in homicides in the city this year, from 241 this time last year to 179 as of Sunday.

The number of shooting victims in the city was also down, by 23%, from 649 to 500, cops said.
