Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Aug. 7 was 1.041%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 52.44% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.3 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $5.74.
USDA used information from Tuesday’s U.S. Census Bureau to report on June U.S. exports of DDGS. USDA noted exports totaled 917,307 metric tons (mt) in June, down from 918,108 mt in May, and down 3% from June, 2024. DDGS exports are running 7.7% behind 2024 through the first half of 2025. Mexico was the top destination in June, taking 20% of U.S. exports, and was followed by South Korea and Vietnam. If tariffs stay put in August, that may have a negative effect on DDGS exports.
The Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday for the week ended Aug. 1, overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.081 million barrels per day (bpd), down 15,000 bpd versus last week and 14,000 bpd, or 1.3% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.086 million bpd was 8,000 bpd below the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.021 million bpd, down 19,000 bpd versus last week and 13,000 bpd, or 1.3% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.029 million bpd was 4,000 bpd below the same four weeks last year.
