SAN ANTONIO – A News 4 exclusive tonight: Former mayors Ron Nirenberg and Henry Cisneros reacting to the new mayor’s attempt to delay action on a downtown community arena.
Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones put out a statement Thursday night, restating her position from Wednesday night’s marathon City Council meeting. She wants to delay any action on a new arena, but her City Council does not agree. So City Manager Erik Walsh will proceed forward with a term sheet, negotiating the details of an arena deal with the Spurs.
And while Jones has insisted on more analysis and non-starters like revenue sharing, the two former mayors cautioned against alienating San Antonio’s one and only pro sports franchise.
