Six dogs are missing after a massive fire engulfed a home in suburban McHenry County Friday morning.
Just before 8 a.m. Friday, the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to the 200 block of South Queen Anne Road after several reports of heavy black smoke in the area. Firefighters arrived within six minutes and found a large cloud of smoke billowing from a two-story home that was engulfed in flames, authorities said.
Portions of the house were already collapsed when firefighters arrived.
Multiple hose lines sprayed the massive fire as a latter truck fed water from above, the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District said.
No people were inside the home during the fire, but firefighters rescued four dogs through a basement door, authorities said. The dogs inhaled a significant amount of smoke and sustained minor burns but are reportedly in good health.
Six other dogs that were believed to be on the upper levels of the house when the fire broke out are currently missing, authorities said.
