A viral fitness chain is hoping to bring fewer groans and more groove to San Antonio. Fly Dance Fitness is opening its first-ever Texas studio on September 6, bringing hip-hop dance moves and serious gains to 12104 Alamo Ranch Pkwy.
The Sarasota, Florida-based fitness franchise became a social media sensation during the COVID-19 pandemic when videos of its high-energy routines racked up millions of views. The studio’s classes are designed to feel like a party with a pop soundtrack, spirited instructors, and routines that can be adapted to any fitness level.
The San Antonio studio will offer four core formats:
- Throw Down — A fast-paced, dance-driven cardio class known for its party vibe
- So Fly Step — A step aerobics class fused with hip-hop choreography
- Sculpt Weights — A non-dance, strength-focused class using free weights
- Sculpt Camp — A small-group, goal-based training session with personalized pacing
The franchise is the first business venture for longtime San Antonians Diane and Troy Ostrum, who previously worked in civil service and education. The couple moved to Alamo City after meeting in the Air Force 29 years ago.
“Fly Dance Fitness’ energy and passionate community really stood out to us as a studio that would thrive in San Antonio; there’s really nothing else like it here,” said the Ostrums in a release. “Our goal is to provide a fun, supportive environment where anyone, no matter their dance or fitness background, can feel strong, confident, and part of an inclusive community.
The studio will shimmy into San Antonio with a grand opening ceremony from 11:30 am-5:30 pm on September 6. The celebrations will include demo classes, giveaways, light bites, and a ribbon-cutting at noon. During the debut weeks, fitness fans can take advantage of introductory trial pricing, including $139 per month for unlimited classes or a $49 two-week unlimited package.
