The San Diego Wave looks to stay near the top of the table on Saturday night, as they get set to host Angel City in National Women’s Soccer League action.

After the long break, San Diego returned to action with a little bit of a whimper, coming away with a point in a scoreless draw against the North Carolina Courage last Saturday. It marked the second straight match where the Wave failed to score, though they also drew with the Washington Spirit prior to the league-wide pause.

The Wave has earned points in nine of its past 10 league matches, going 6-1-3 over that span. Their play has helped them stay in contention for home-field advantage in the playoffs. San Diego is currently fourth in the NWSL, one point ahead of the Seattle Reign for fifth.

Angel City has struggled with consistency this season, but they are still within striking distance of a playoff spot. They have not been helping their cause, having lost three straight contests, including a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Reign last Friday. Angel City is 11th in the table, four points back of eighth place.
