National City Police responded to reports of “shots fired” at Kimball Park, in National City just before 8:30 p.m. on August 8th.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that following an altercation between a group of young males, a 17-year-old male had been shot. Officers learned the suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim sustained a life-threatening injury and was transported to a local trauma unit. Detectives continue to investigate as of the writing of this media release.
