The Jack Ciattarelli-Supported Price Hike Bill Would Deplete New Jerseyans’ Social Security
BLOOMFIELD — Mikie Sherrill released the following statement after a new report showed that the Jack Ciattarelli and Trump-supported price hike bill would deplete New Jerseyans’ hard-earned Social Security benefits:
“The people of the Garden State have spent their careers paying into Social Security, expecting to retire with dignity, but Jack Ciattarelli is standing with Trump as he drives our economy off a cliff and threatens seniors’ hard-earned benefits. It’s unconscionable that Jack is proudly cheering on a bill that will deplete the Social Security Trust Fund and bring forward Social Security’s insolvency date, but sadly, it’s par for the course for someone who supports policies that put thousands of retirees’ pensions at risk. And that’s not all. On Monday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the tax hike bill is a ‘backdoor for privatizing Social Security.’ How did Jack react? He didn’t say a word. I’m running for governor to ensure New Jersey seniors get every penny they’ve earned, while Jack allows Trump to cut Social Security at the expense of New Jerseyans.”
