Says he’s always happy to receive questions like this because it shows how enthusiastic the fans are

SNK producer, Yasuyuki Oda, has commented again on the prospect of a Capcom vs. SNK 3 title being made, after addressing the subject late last year and quite a few other times as well through the years.

Speaking with IGN, they asked Oda if he has any interest in working with Capcom once again on a new entry in the Capcom vs. SNK series.

“That would be something, wouldn’t it? However, there is nothing I can talk about at this moment,” Oda said.

“We are always happy to receive questions like this because it shows how enthusiastic the fans are for another Capcom vs. SNK. It’s a great source of motivation for us,” he added.

From there, IGN asked about how he feels about guest characters in fighting games, if that’s a healthy trend overall and he thinks we might see more guests in future updates of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

“I think it’s a great trend. Of course, it is important to respect the story and world of other games, but the introduction of guest characters has great potential for the future of fighting games to create new ‘chemical reactions’. That is to say, it can lead to unexpected outcomes and birth something new,” said Oda.

“As for City of the Wolves, there are still characters we need to bring back before we start thinking about more guest characters. Please rest assured that we are putting all of our focus on that right now. Even after Mr. Big releases, there are still many new characters and new aspects of the game we are working on, so please look forward to them!” concluded Oda.

Back in 2018, Capcom vs. SNK 3 was actually in development at one point, but it was cancelled due to SNK’s bankruptcy.

While this isn’t confirmation that this project is back in the works, it does show that SNK is still open to the possibility, just as Capcom said things “went smoothly” when porting over CvS2 for Capcom Fighting Collection 2.
