Civil Air Patrol was approved for a lease extension at Phoenix Deer Valley Airport on Thursday and plans to expand its hangar there.
The Phoenix Aviation Advisory Board Business and Development Subcommittee unanimously approved the extension, which is for 10 years with the possibility of a five-year extension in exchange for the at least $4.9 million Civil Air Patrol plans to spend on expanding the hangar.
The 10-year extension will extension starts in 2028 and runs through 2037. It is contingent on completing the expansion of the hangar, which also includes classroom and office space. The five-year optional extension will be at the discretion of Phoenix Aviation Director Chad Makovsky.
