In May 2020, designer Cory DeFrancisco doled out $7.2 million for an avocado-hued, Mediterranean-style home in Los Angeles that was built way back in the 1980s. Though he liked its overall structure and bones, the place needed a ton of modifications to make it suitable for himself, his wife Catherine, and their two sons. So, the owner and principal of Muskoka Living set out to craft a family oasis from the ground up—one that would seamlessly mesh refinement and comfort.

What emerged in 2022 amid a desirable tree-lined street in L.A.’s tony Brentwood Park neighborhood was a striking abode that not only serves as a de facto showroom for the high-end furniture, lighting, and accessory business DeFrancisco owns and operates, but also has a separate pool house that doubles as a hangout for children and guests alike.

“We saw this house as where our boys would finish out school; a welcoming home where they’d bring their friends, with a big yard where we could play catch every night,” DeFrancisco told Luxe Interiors + Design in a 2024 article. “And we wanted something airy, light and calming in terms of aesthetics, colors and textures.”

Now, a little more than five years later, DeFrancisco has chosen to give up the keys to his ultra-bespoke residence, placing it on the market with Blair Chang and LeAnne Thrasher-Chang of The Agency for $26.5 million.

Nestled beyond walls and gates on an extra-wide lot spanning almost half an acre, the off-white reclaimed brick structure boasts seven en suite bedrooms (each with a private terrace) and seven baths across 9,000 square feet of two-level living space rife with alluring details. Think lovely wire-brushed and fluted paneling, rustic oak floors, nearly 13-foot ceilings, custom millwork, arched doorways, and tailor-made furnishings and decor.

Stunning from the outset is a walkway of Italian black granite pavers that leads to a welcoming porch and glassy front doors. Inside, highlights include a living room anchored by a curving white oak and fluted limestone fireplace and glass doors spilling outside, as well as a formal dining space. A fireside family room flows to the kitchen, which is outfitted with pale oak cabinetry, a La Cornue range, an eat-in island topped with Calacatta Reclusa marble, and a dining area flanked by a wet bar.

Elsewhere is an office, a gym, and an upstairs primary suite showcased by a luxe bath sporting a spacious wet room incorporating a soaking tub and shower. Topping it all off: the picturesque Santa Barbara-meets-East Coast grounds, which are laced with olive and citrus trees and host a pool and spa beside the aforementioned poolside guesthouse, plus a turf-clad sports court and a finished three-car garage.
