SAN ANTONIO – Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan is returning to San Antonio Sunday night to be seen by Spurs doctors after a suffering a calf strain while training for Team Poland.
Sochan put out a statement saying, “I’m beyond disappointed to share that due to a calf strain, I have to step away from representing Poland at Eurobasket. I’ve been working so hard my whole offseason for this and the past several weeks of training and competing with the national team has been incredible. This is a special group, and I was really looking forward to being a part of this team. Fortunately, my doctors expect a full recovery in time for training camp for the upcoming NBA season. I want to thank my teammates, coaches, and all staff, and especially the fans here in Poland for their support. I appreciate you all, and please know while I can’t be there, I’ll still be supporting Poland all the way.”
Sohan was scheduled to play for his national team in the upcoming Euro Basket Championships, but was injured while training with his team. After consulting with team doctors here, the Spurs and Sohan have decided that he won’t play, and instead will return to the states to get ready for training camp.
Spurs General Manager Brian Wright said, “Due to his injury, Jeremy received professional help in Poland. The cooperation with the Koszkadra staff and management has always been exemplary. However, in this situation, the best option is for Jeremy to return to San Antonio.”
