In a time-honoured tradition, Premier David Crisafulli will host a cabinet meeting at the Ekka showgrounds today.
The premier will hold a press conference after the cabinet meeting about midday.
Away from politics, today’s program at the Ekka is all about horses, with the thoroughbred and standardbred judging.
The Fashions on the Field competition is also being held. Men and women will be judged on their race-day attire, with judges considering colour and coordination, accessories, millinery, grooming, and overall presentation.
Ekka visitors can also enjoy the first super saver day with 20 per cent off entry tickets online (Monday 11, Tuesday 12, Thursday 14 and Friday 15 August).
Yesterday, more than 45,000 punters filed through the gates.
