Syracuse, N.Y. — Back to school this year is coming with a major reality check: New York is banning smart phones in schools.

The ban extends to anything with Internet access (other than a school-issued Chrome Book). That means no watches or personal lap tops or ear buds, school officials say.

The ban lasts all day, from bell to bell. That means no TikTok at lunch or Instagram during study hall. That means no listening to music during class.
