Given how it can provide relief from sweltering summer days, Texans are often hoping for rain.

This week, there’s a chance it could deliver. While Monday is expected to be dry and seasonably hot, Tuesday and Wednesday both have a 20% chance of afternoon thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office said these storms aren’t expected to be severe, but they could bring strong wind gusts, lightning and brief downpours. Summer showers often concentrate dropping all their water in smaller spots, making it a little more difficult to forecast just how much rainfall is expected.

The high for the first few days of the week is expected to be slightly below the early August average, hitting 95 or 96 each day. Sticky humidity will make it feel hotter, though, driving the heat index up to 102 or 103 for the start of the week.
