Gun violence erupts in Jacksonville with 4 scenes in less than 48 hours

  • August 11, 2025

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In less than two days over the weekend, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to four different shootings, each in a different part of the city.

In the most recent incident, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said just after 6 a.m. on Sunday, three people were standing near gas pumps at a Northwest Jacksonville gas station when a dark-colored Dodge Charger pulled in, put its window down and someone inside started shooting from the passenger side.

Two women and a man were hit and taken to the hospital.

Almost 24 hours earlier, around 5:25 on Saturday morning, a man was parked at a gas station when another man tried to get into his car. When he refused, the man pulled out a gun and shot him in the arm and face, JSO said.

The victim was taken to the hospital in a private car.

About two hours later, officers were called to an apartment complex off 11th Street.

Investigators said a domestic argument turned violent when a woman shot a man in the thigh.

He was rushed to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Fast forward to around 9:45 a.m., when a victim got into an argument with a man while standing in the road.

This argument also became violent and ended with a man being shot in the foot, JSO said.

The founder of Silent Women Speaking Foundation, a group that supports mothers who’ve lost children to violence, said it’s heartbreaking to hear about this kind of violence in the community.

“My heart sinks for these families, these mothers, somehow we are still hurting, and I believe the hurting is poured back into the violence. So try to find that connection, that void, to how we can help our hurting families. So therefore we won’t get this type of turnout,” said Haraka Carswell, Silent Women Speaking Foundation Inc. Founder. “I think the first step is coming together and just listening to each other, find out what it is that our families are hurting for. Find out what is that our families need. I believe this year, my goal is to collaborate with more organizations who does prevention of crimes. That way, we could do surveys.”

No arrests have been announced by JSO in any of these shootings.
